If you’ve already attended our popular Buttercream Rose class, or are well practised at home and would like to take your flower piping to the next level, then this is the class for you! Led by our fabulously talented Wedding Cake & Flowers Tutor Harriet Hutton – of Harriet Alice Cake Design, you will create this stunning two tiered buttercream cake with intricate piped flowers.
As well as the intricate piping you will also be splitting, filling and masking an 8″ cake, and cover a 6″ dummy – achieving sharp edges with buttercream. You will then be taught how to stack a tiered cake professionally using dowels. Harriet will guide you through how to arrange your collection of piped flowers onto the cake and you will take away a stunning two tiered creation, all boxed up with a recipe and tips sheet. The class has many transferable skills, and the piped flowers can easily be placed onto cupcakes. You will leave with more confidence in piping, stacking and masking for your future creations.
- Covering a cake and dummy with buttercream
- Dowelling, filling, levelling and crumb coating
- Piping with buttercream – including: Roses, Primroses, 6 Petal Blossoms, Leaves and filler buds.
- Arranging the flowers on the cake
- Colouring buttercream, filling piping bags, using couplers and tips.
Level – Advanced. You will already have attended the Buttercream Rose class, or be confident in piping buttercream flowers. You will also have experience in levelling and masking larger cakes.
Length of class – 5.5 hours with a short break for lunch
